Establish Killzone
Choose a visible lane or zone. Your first Overwatch or Reactive Fire attack through it gains +2 to hit.
The answer to armor, monsters, hordes, and anything foolish enough to stand in the open. Heavy weapons, suppression, armor-cracking firepower, and battlefield control.
The lane is closed. Permanently.
The Devastator Marine is fire support made transhuman: heavy bolter roar, lascannon judgment, missile trails, braced armor, and battlefield denial.
A Devastator does not merely deal damage. They decide which streets, doors, gantries, monsters, vehicles, and enemy ambitions are no longer viable.
The class fantasy is simple:
A Devastator Marine survives through gene-seed, heavy wargear, fire discipline, armor stabilization, braced positioning, and the certainty that nothing crosses the killzone twice.
The Devastator Marine should not play like a generic heavy gunner. The class should create moments like:
Fire Support Protocols are the Devastator signature class mechanic.
Fire Support Protocol DC = 8 + Proficiency Bonus + Agility modifier
For bracing or recoil, Strength or Toughness may apply.
Fire Support Protocols are special. Devastator Marines do not gain a new Fire Support Protocol every level.
A Killzone is a lane, zone, doorway, street, corridor, ridge, or arc of fire under the Devastator's control.
| Devastator Marine Level | Fire Support Protocols Known |
|---|---|
| 1 | 3 |
| 5 | 4 |
| 9 | 5 |
| 13 | 6 |
| 17 | 7 |
This progression is a working draft. Final class balance may change after all classes are designed.
Choose a visible lane or zone. Your first Overwatch or Reactive Fire attack through it gains +2 to hit.
If you do not move, ignore one Heavy Weapon, Heavy Recoil, or bracing penalty until next turn.
Your next Suppression action imposes Disadvantage on the first affected target's save.
Your next attack against a vehicle, monster, armored elite, or heavy target adds Proficiency Bonus to damage.
Once this scene, one attack, Burst, or Suppression consumes no ammunition.
One ally moving through your Killzone gains +2 Defense against Reactive Fire.
Move 5 feet while maintaining suppression or Overwatch posture if terrain permits.
Devastator Marine progression uses Doctrine Trees.
A Devastator Marine earns Doctrine Points and spends them across the trees below, specializing deeply in one tree or spreading points across several.
Each rank costs 1 Doctrine Point and requires the previous rank in that tree unless future rules say otherwise.
Devastator Marines gain 1 Doctrine Point at every even level.
| Devastator Marine Level | Doctrine Points Gained |
|---|---|
| 2 | +1 |
| 4 | +1 |
| 6 | +1 |
| 8 | +1 |
| 10 | +1 |
| 12 | +1 |
| 14 | +1 |
| 16 | +1 |
| 18 | +1 |
| 20 | +1 |

Add +1 damage once per turn with heavy bolter or similar heavy ballistic weapon.
When you use Burst or Suppression, one affected target has -1 to its save.
If a target fails Suppression by 5 or more, it becomes Exposed.
Once per scene, a Burst or Suppression from your heavy bolter consumes no ammunition.
Once per safe rest, add your Devastator level to one heavy bolter hit or suppression damage event.
The sound is doctrine leaving the barrel.
