Fate & Grit
Fate is how ordinary humans survive impossible adventures. It is a visible, spendable pool of narrative armor — and a permanent ledger of the times destiny already saved you and has fewer bullets left in the magazine.
The Emperor protects. The dice do not. — This chapter is a transcription outline: the rules below name what is being drafted, not final law. Full text replaces each entry as the rites are locked in at the table.
What This Chapter Governs
Being TranscribedThe Fate Pool. Current Fate, maximum Fate, and burned Fate — three numbers that belong on the front of every sheet.
Spending Fate. Reroll a d20 you just rolled. Reduce incoming damage. Stabilize instantly at 0 Vitality. Ask the GM one instinctive yes/no question about the scene.
Burning Fate. Permanently reduce your maximum pool to survive something that should have killed you outright. A scar, a story, and a smaller number forever.
Regaining Fate. The pool refills at the end of a safe rest — and the GM decides what counts as safe. In the underhive, nowhere is.
