Proficiencies: Awareness +9, Command +10

Senses: Sees normally in total darkness, Feels every organism in its synapse web

// Traits

Synaptic Sovereign Aloft. Its synapse web moves with it at flying speed; no brood on the field is ever out of command for long. Every tyranid in the encounter checks no Morale while the tyrant lives, and its death drops the swarm to instinct at once.

Death From the Hive Sky. If the tyrant flies at least 20 feet toward a target before a melee attack, that attack deals +2d10 damage and each enemy within 10 feet of the impact makes a Willpower Save DC 17 or is Frightened until the end of its next turn.

Never Where the Guns Are. The tyrant ends each turn behind terrain, altitude, or the swarm. Until its next turn, ranged attacks against it from more than 30 feet away are made at Disadvantage. Static fire plans are what it eats.

// Actions

Diving Strike. Melee Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 3d10 + 8 rending damage, and the target makes a Strength Save DC 17 or is knocked Prone beneath it.

Bio-Storm Strafe. The tyrant flies up to its fly speed in a straight line, raking bio-weapon fire along the pass. Each creature within 10 feet of its path makes an Agility Save DC 17, taking 3d8 piercing damage on a failure or half on a success.

Psychic Scream. Each creature within 30 feet of a point the tyrant can see below it makes a Willpower Save DC 17, taking 4d8 psychic damage on a failure or half on a success. Cover grants no protection from above.

// Reactions

Relocate the War. Once per round, when an enemy completes an action, the tyrant may fly up to 20 feet and redirect one brood within its synapse: that brood immediately moves up to half its Movement or makes one attack.

Morale: Does not make Morale checks. It disengages by air when wounded past investment and returns healed, later, with the swarm's next wave.

Tactics: Run it in strike cycles — dive, kill, command, climb — so the party's problem is forcing an engagement it keeps declining. Ground cover faces the wrong way; reward anti-air preparation, bait, and terrain that clips its dive lanes. Its death mid-flight, with the synapse web snapping field-wide, should be the arc's loudest single moment.

Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Its wing tendon and airframe skeleton are the only known template for tyranid-scale flight — a fortune to the right forge, heresy to the wrong one.

Enemy Dossier

GM Reference

A winged hive tyrant is the swarm's general given air superiority: the same synapse sovereign and monster-killer, now arriving from any direction at flying speed. It commands the whole field because it can reach the whole field.

// Battlefield Use

Use this threat as a mobile boss over a large engagement — a commander the party cannot outmaneuver, only bring down.

// Threat Profile

Threat Profile: Boss-grade durability, flying mobility, elite melee delivered by dive, army-wide synapse, psychic assault, no escort but no fixed position either.

// Signature Traits

Synaptic Sovereign Aloft. Its synapse web moves with it at flying speed; no brood on the field is ever out of command for long.

Death From the Hive Sky. Its diving charges land with bonus damage and force fear checks on everything nearby.

Shadow in the Warp. Enemy psykers within its presence cast at Disadvantage and risk Perils.

Never Where the Guns Are. It ends each turn behind terrain, altitude, or the swarm; static fire plans are what it eats.

// Signature Actions

Diving Strike. Plunging melee attack; the target saves or is knocked prone beneath it, and its next victim is already chosen.

Bio-Storm Strafe. Bio-weapon fire raked along a line of targets during a pass.

Psychic Scream. Area psychic assault delivered from above the party's cover.

Relocate the War. Flies to a new sector and immediately redirects every brood there as one motion.

Morale: No Morale; it disengages by air when wounded past investment and returns healed, later, with the swarm's next wave.

Tactics: Encounter note: run it in strike cycles — dive, kill, command, climb — so the party's problem is forcing an engagement it keeps declining. Ground-based cover faces the wrong way against it; reward anti-air preparation, bait, and terrain that clips its dive lanes. Its death mid-flight, with the synapse web snapping across the whole field at once, should be the arc's loudest single moment.
