Threat File — T'au Pathfinder
TR 4 · T'au EmpireProficiencies: Stealth +5, Awareness +5, Fieldcraft +4
Forward Observer. While stationary in cover, the pathfinder gains Advantage on Stealth and Awareness checks, and nearby T'au units cannot be surprised.
Marker Discipline. The pathfinder's markerlight persists on its target until the pathfinder moves, becomes Pinned, or dies.
Markerlight. The pathfinder illuminates one visible creature. T'au ranged attacks against that creature gain +2 to hit while the mark persists.
Pulse Carbine Snap. Ranged Attack: +4 to hit, range 60/180 ft., one target. Hit: 2d6 + 1 energy damage. The pathfinder fires this mostly to cover its own withdrawal.
Call the Volley. One allied T'au unit that can see the pathfinder's marked target may use its reaction to make one ranged attack against it.
Morale: Withdraws the moment it is located or Pinned; its job is to see, not to die.
Tactics: Deploy first and hidden, with sightlines over the objective. Mark the heaviest or most Exposed enemy and let the cadre do the killing; relocate rather than duel once discovered.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: A markerlight unit and recon data-slate mapping the cadre's positions and fallback routes.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceThe pathfinder is the cadre's forward eye: a light scout whose markerlight makes every other T'au gun on the field more lethal. Killing it is rarely satisfying and always correct.
Use this enemy when you want the party hunted by accurate fire from units they cannot see yet, or to give a T'au force a recon screen worth eliminating.
Threat Profile: Low durability, low direct damage, force-multiplying markerlight support, strong stealth and fieldcraft, withdraws when found.
Forward Observer. Gains Advantage on Stealth and Awareness checks while stationary in cover.
Marker Discipline. Its markerlight persists on a target until the pathfinder moves, is Pinned, or dies.
Recon Net. Nearby T'au units cannot be surprised while the pathfinder holds an overwatch position.
Markerlight. Illuminates one visible target; T'au attacks against that target gain +2 to hit.
Pulse Carbine Snap. Light ranged attack used only to cover its own withdrawal.
Call the Volley. Signals a hidden fire team or suit to attack the marked target immediately.
Morale: Withdraws the moment it is located or Pinned; its job is to see, not to die.
Tactics: Place the pathfinder first, hidden, with sightlines over the objective. Mark the party's heaviest or most Exposed member and let the rest of the cadre do the killing. Once discovered, relocate rather than duel — a dead pathfinder blinds the whole encounter.
