Spore Cloud Organism
A hazardous organism using toxic clouds and spores.
Threat File — Spore Cloud Organism
TR 5 · Beasts & Death World HorrorsSenses: Drifts toward exhaled breath and body warmth within 120 feet
Living Weather. The organism is a drifting 20-foot cloud zone rather than a body. Ballistic, las, piercing, slashing, and bludgeoning damage is reduced to 1; fire deals double damage, and hard wind or vacuum disperses it for 1d4 rounds.
Toxic Bloom. A creature that starts its turn inside the cloud takes 1d6 toxic damage and makes a Toughness Save DC 13 or chokes, taking Disadvantage on attacks and checks until it leaves the cloud. Sealed rebreathers and intact void-suits negate the choking and halve the damage.
Settle Over. The cloud drifts up to its Movement to envelop a zone — ideally one containing cover the party is using, converting safety into a decision. Creatures enveloped are also Blinded to anything outside the cloud.
Spore Burst. The organism concentrates and detonates part of itself. Each creature in the cloud makes a Toughness Save DC 13, taking 3d6 toxic damage on a failure and half on a success, and is Blinded by the haze until the end of its next turn on a failure.
Morale: None; it drifts toward carbon dioxide and warmth, recoiling as a mass only from flame and moving air.
Tactics: Run it as mobile area denial layered onto another fight: the cloud claims the best cover, splits the formation, and punishes anyone whose mask was damaged three scenes ago. Its counters — flame, venting, weather — are all loud, destructive, or situational. The GM's clock is drift; the party's clock is breath.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Intact spore nodes are worth hazard pay to Biologis collectors, and the cloud's feeding trail maps every corpse in the district.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceA Spore Cloud Organism is a drifting colonial life-form that feeds by fumigation: a soft-glowing haze that settles over breathing things and waits. It is weather with a diet.
Use this hazard to poison zones of the battlefield and force the party to fight, move, and breathe on a schedule not their own.
Hazard-class area threat, drifting toxic zones, respiratory poison, vision obscurement, nearly immune to gunfire, burns beautifully.
Living Weather. A drifting cloud zone rather than a body: shooting it accomplishes morale purposes only; flame, hard wind, and vacuum disperse it.
Toxic Bloom. Creatures inside the cloud take poison damage each round and make Toughness Saves against choking Disadvantage; rebreathers and seals are the counter.
Settle Over. Drifts to envelop a zone — ideally one containing cover the party is using, converting safety into a decision.
Spore Burst. Concentrates and detonates part of itself: a pulse of poison damage and blinding haze in its zone.
