Machine Mind. The security automata does not make Morale checks. It executes protocol without anger or mercy.
Escalation Protocol. It warns, then restrains, then kills — each tier announced, each announcement a countdown. It does not use lethal attacks against a creature it has not warned, unless attacked first.
Patrol Logic. Its routes and timings are fixed. A party that observes it for a full patrol cycle learns its schedule and blind windows at GM discretion.
Compliance Volley. Ranged Attack: +5 to hit, range 60/180 ft., one target. Hit: 2d8 + 2 las damage. Against a target that ignored one of its warnings, the attack gains +1 to hit.
Restraint Protocol. Melee Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: the target is Grappled and Pinned for detention (Strength check DC 13 to escape).
Alarm Uplink. The automata alerts every connected automata and turret in the facility. The facility's security posture escalates one tier, at GM discretion.
Morale: Does not make Morale checks (machine mind). It patrols until destroyed, deactivated, or presented with valid credentials — however acquired.
Tactics: Run the facility as one organism: this automata is its white blood cell. Let the party learn the patrol rhythm, steal credentials, or trigger escalations they then regret. In open combat it is solid but beatable — the danger is what it wakes up.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Its credential reader accepts any valid badge, living owner not required.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceA Security Automata is a patrol machine running defense protocols older than its owners — challenge, classify, escalate, purge. It is scrupulously fair: everyone without credentials dies identically.
Use this enemy as patrolling opposition in facilities, vaults, and ruins where the security system outlived its masters.
Threat Profile: Good durability, competent ranged threat, predictable patrol logic, escalation tiers, no morale, vulnerable to credentials, spoofing, and patient observation.
Machine Mind. No morale; executes protocol without anger or mercy.
Escalation Protocol. Warns, then restrains, then kills; each tier is announced and each announcement is a countdown.
Patrol Logic. Routes and timings are fixed; observed long enough, it becomes a puzzle with a schedule.
Compliance Volley. Ranged attack; against targets that ignored a warning, +1 to hit.
Restraint Protocol. Attempts to grapple and Pin a trespasser for detention rather than death.
Alarm Uplink. Alerts all connected automata and turrets; the facility's posture escalates.
Morale: None. It patrols until destroyed, deactivated, or presented with valid credentials — however acquired.
