Threat File — Rapture Cult Magister
TR 9 · Chaos God-Aligned CultsSaves: Willpower +8, Agility +7
Sovereign of Sensation. The battlefield near the Magister is a sensory assault: enemies within 30 feet suffer -1 to Willpower Saves and initiative as music, perfume, and light conspire.
The Court. The Magister fights surrounded by devoted elites who consider interception an honor: once per round, an adjacent cult ally takes an attack meant for the Magister. Once per scene, when the Magister is bloodied, every cult ally immediately makes one attack or move (Crescendo).
Unbearable Grace. The Magister's Defense is born of speed and poise; the first melee attack to miss it each round grants it a free 10-foot repositioning step.
Word of Rapture. One enemy within 60 feet makes a Willpower Save DC 15 or is charmed until it takes damage: it will not attack the cult and moves as the Magister suggests.
Symphony of the Flayed Sense. A burst of overwhelming sensation. Enemies within 30 feet make a Willpower Save DC 15 or suffer their worst option of Frightened, deafened, or Pinned until the end of their next turn — the Magister chooses per victim.
The Magister's Touch. Melee Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d10 + 4 slashing damage, and the target loses its next reaction and suffers Disadvantage on its next turn as the toxin converts pain into stolen time.
Feast of Reactions. Once per round, when an enemy within 30 feet uses a reaction, the Magister may steal it: the reaction fails, and the Magister immediately moves up to 10 feet or makes one Magister's Touch attack.
Morale: Retreats only from boredom, never fear; if genuinely beaten, it seeks a final exquisite gesture — a hostage, a revelation, a kiss — rather than a clean death.
Tactics: Run the fight in movements, like the performance it believes it is: the court engages first, the sensory field degrades the party, and the Magister spends its rounds converting party members into temporary liabilities. Charm effects should target whoever the party can least afford to lose and break on damage, forcing hard choices about shooting friends. The party wins by staying boring: discipline, focused fire, and refusing every single invitation.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: The Magister's court regalia and a ledger of sensations owed by powerful citizens — leverage over half the sector's gentry.
