Purestrain Genestealer
A pure ambush predator and party anxiety generator.
Threat File — Purestrain Genestealer
TR 6 · Genestealer CultsSaves: Agility +8
Proficiencies: Stealth +8, Athletics +6
Senses: Sees normally in total darkness, Senses living prey within 30 feet by scent and vibration
Perfect Ambusher. While hidden, the purestrain cannot be targeted by Reactive Fire. Its first attack from hiding gains Advantage and deals an extra 2d6 rending damage.
Death From Every Angle. The purestrain climbs any surface at full Movement and may attack while clinging to walls and ceilings.
Predator's Dread. A creature that sees the purestrain kill makes a Willpower Save DC 13 or suffers Disadvantage on its next action.
Flensing Talons. The purestrain makes two attacks against one target. Melee Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft. Hit: 2d6 + 3 rending damage. Both attacks gain Advantage against an Exposed or isolated target.
Lightning Lunge. The purestrain moves up to its full Movement, ignoring difficult terrain, and makes one Flensing Talons attack. If the attack misses, the purestrain is Exposed until the start of its next turn.
Vanish. The purestrain withdraws into darkness, ducting, or a tunnel mouth and becomes hidden. Tracking it requires a contested Awareness check against its Stealth.
Morale: Does not make Morale checks; it has no fear, only instinct. When wounded and outmatched it disengages, then stalks the survivors and finishes the hunt later.
Tactics: Never trade attacks in the open. Strike the isolated, the rearguard, and the wounded, then vanish before fire concentrates. Prepared kill-zones, flamers, and Suppression are the party's answers — make them earn the chance to use them.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Nothing on the body but the body itself: a purestrain corpse is priceless evidence that will bring the Inquisition, whether the party wants it or not.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceA Purestrain Genestealer is the origin of the entire infection: a perfect ambush predator of talon, sinew, and patience. It does not fight battles; it ends individuals, quickly, in the dark.
Use this enemy when the encounter should be horror first and combat second — derelicts, mine shafts, unlit sub-decks, and the terrible moment the motion sensor chirps.
High melee lethality, extreme speed and climb mobility, strong stealth, fear pressure, fragile only when caught in prepared Fire Lanes.
Perfect Ambusher. While hidden, it cannot be targeted by Reactive Fire, and its first attack from hiding gains Advantage and an extra damage die.
Death From Every Angle. Climbs any surface at full Movement and may attack while clinging to walls and ceilings.
Predator's Dread. Creatures that see it kill make a Willpower Save or become shaken, suffering Disadvantage on their next action.
Flensing Talons. Multiple rending strikes against one target; brutal against Exposed or isolated prey.
Lightning Lunge. Moves its full speed and attacks, ignoring difficult terrain; using this leaves it briefly Exposed if it misses.
Vanish. Withdraws into darkness or ducting; requires a contested Awareness check to track.
Morale: No fear, only instinct: it disengages when wounded and outmatched, then stalks the survivors and finishes the hunt later.
Tactics: Never let it stand in the open trading attacks. Strike the isolated, the rearguard, and the wounded, then vanish before the party can concentrate fire. Prepared kill-zones, flamers, and Suppression are the party's answers; make them earn the chance to use them. One genestealer should feel like a hunt; three should feel like a mistake.
