Saves: Willpower +10

Senses: Sees normally in total darkness

// Traits

Harbinger of Despair. The air around the psychomancer curdles: enemies within 30 feet suffer Disadvantage on saves against fear and on Morale checks. It has no psychic talent whatsoever — these are instruments, and they are calibrated.

Nightmare Shroud. Any Frightened creature makes its attacks against the psychomancer at Disadvantage; terror will not aim straight at its source.

// Actions

Abyssal Lance. The psychomancer projects concentrated dread at one creature within 60 feet: the target makes a Willpower Save DC 16, taking 3d8 + 4 psychic damage and becoming Frightened until the end of its next turn on a failure, or half damage on a success.

Manifest Terrors. A 30-foot zone within 60 feet fills with hallucinated horrors until the start of the psychomancer's next turn. The zone is difficult terrain, and a creature inside that attempts to leave cover makes a Willpower Save DC 16 or stays where it is.

Death-Rehearsal. One creature within 60 feet vividly experiences its own death: it makes a Willpower Save DC 16 or is Pinned by the experience until the end of its next turn and Frightened for the round after.

// Reactions

Feed the Yield. When a creature within 30 feet becomes Frightened, the psychomancer regains 5 Vitality as its instruments drink the terror-data.

Morale: Does not make Morale checks — a fact it finds professionally interesting. It withdraws only when its terror-yield data is complete.

Tactics: Pair the psychomancer with Flayed Ones or advancing warriors so its fear effects have teeth behind them. It targets the party's anchor personalities — the leader, the steady one — because broken pillars drop roofs. Resolute, fear-resistant characters are its counter; give them their moment.

Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Its dread instruments still whisper in the crate; the terror-yield archive inside knows the fears of everyone who fought it.

Enemy Dossier

GM Reference

A Psychomancer-Type is a Cryptek that weaponizes despair without a shred of psychic talent — nightmare projectors, dread harmonics, and instruments that make mortal minds rehearse their own deaths. It farms fear with laboratory precision.

// Battlefield Use

Use this enemy when a Necron encounter should attack the party's Morale and nerve directly, not just their Vitality.

// Threat Profile

Moderate durability, fear and Morale warfare, area dread effects, hallucinatory misdirection, force-multiplier for horror-flavored Necron forces.

// Signature Traits

Harbinger of Despair. The air around it curdles: enemies within 30 feet suffer Disadvantage on saves against fear and Morale checks.

Nightmare Shroud. Attacks against the Psychomancer are made at Disadvantage by any shaken or Frightened creature; terror will not aim straight at its source.

// Signature Actions

Abyssal Lance. Projects concentrated dread: Willpower Save or psychic damage and the target is Frightened until the end of its next turn.

Manifest Terrors. Fills a zone with hallucinated horrors; creatures inside treat it as difficult terrain and make Willpower Saves to leave cover.

Death-Rehearsal. One target vividly experiences its own death: Willpower Save or it is Pinned by the experience and shaken afterward.

Morale: None — which it finds professionally interesting; it withdraws only when its terror-yield data is complete.
