Plague Champion
A rotten champion who advances like bad news.
Threat File — Plague Champion
TR 11 · Traitor AstartesSaves: Toughness +10, Willpower +8
Proficiencies: Command +6, Intimidation +6
Disgustingly Resilient. Whenever the plague champion takes damage, reduce that damage by 3 (minimum 1). He is immune to poison and disease.
Grandfather's Patience. Allied Nurgle units within 30 feet gain Advantage on Morale checks and cannot be Suppressed while the champion is conscious.
Demoralizing Endurance. The first time each scene the champion would drop to 0 Vitality, he drops to 1 instead. Enemies who see it make a Willpower Save DC 15 or become Frightened until the end of their next turn.
Plague Sword. Melee Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d10 + 5 slashing damage, and the target makes a Toughness Save DC 15 or contracts a festering sickness: it takes 1d4 poison damage at the start of each of its turns until it succeeds a Toughness Save DC 15 at the end of one of its turns.
Gift of Rot. The champion lobs a blight grenade at a point within 40 feet. Creatures within 10 feet of the point make an Agility Save DC 15, taking 3d6 poison damage on a failure or half on a success. The zone counts as toxic ground until the end of the scene.
Steady, Children. One allied Nurgle unit within 60 feet immediately moves up to its speed or removes the Pinned or Suppressed condition from itself.
Absorb the Blow. When an allied Nurgle unit within 5 feet is hit by an attack, the champion may take the damage instead.
Morale: Does not break; withdraws only when the contagion's work is done, and never at a pace above a walk.
Tactics: He anchors the plague advance and absorbs the party's alpha strike so his squad does not have to. Play him warm, almost kindly — he pities the party their frantic effort. His threat is arithmetic: every round he still stands, the ground and the odds get worse.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: His plague sword's blade cultures a named strain of the warband's blessing — a live sample worth an Inquisitorial favor, if sealed properly.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceA Plague Champion is a rotten veteran who advances like bad news: slowly, certainly, and past every attempt to stop him. He leads by example, and the example is that nothing the party does works.
