Patriarch
The psychic brood-father and center of the infection.
Threat File — Patriarch
TR 13 · Genestealer CultsSaves: Willpower +11, Toughness +10, Agility +8
Proficiencies: Stealth +9, Awareness +8
Senses: Sees normally in total darkness, Psychically aware of every broodkin on the battlefield
Father of the Brood. All cult forces on the battlefield are immune to Morale collapse while the Patriarch lives. When it dies, every surviving cultist immediately makes a Morale check at Disadvantage.
Psychic Dominion. At the start of each round, one enemy the Patriarch can perceive makes a Willpower Save DC 17 or the Patriarch chooses one: the target is Pinned, suffers Disadvantage on its next attack, or must spend its next movement as the Patriarch directs.
Throne of the Nest. While in its lair, the Patriarch acts through the nest itself: once per round, a tunnel opens, broodkin reposition up to 15 feet, or the darkness itself imposes Disadvantage on one Awareness check. Severing its psychic reach, collapsing the nest, or driving it from the throne ends this trait — build the encounter around those objectives, not Vitality alone.
Sovereign Talons. The Patriarch makes three attacks. Melee Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 2d10 + 7 rending damage. On a critical hit, the target's armor is degraded, reducing its Defense by 1 until repaired, and Light Cover struck by the attack is destroyed.
Mind-Wrench. One creature within 60 feet makes a Willpower Save DC 17 or takes 4d10 psychic damage and is dominated for one action at GM discretion. On a success, it takes half damage and is not dominated.
Summon the Faithful. Once per scene, the Patriarch calls a wave of broodkin from the nest's tunnels: a neophyte mob, two acolyte hybrids, or one purestrain genestealer arrives at a tunnel mouth. The room was never as empty as it looked.
Father's Rebuke. When a creature within 30 feet damages the Patriarch, that creature makes a Willpower Save DC 17 or is Frightened until the end of its next turn as four centuries of alien will turn to look at it.
Morale: Does not make Morale checks; it has no fear as humans mean it. If truly overmatched, it attempts to escape deeper into the nest to begin again — and the campaign continues.
Tactics: Build the encounter around more than Vitality: collapsing the nest, severing its psychic reach from the population, evacuation timers, or a banishment-grade Imperial asset. It fights enthroned and unhurried, spending waves and domination before its own talons. Fighting it fairly should feel like a plan the Primus already accounted for.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: The throne-nest holds the cult's genealogy in bone and amniotic glass — generations of infection mapped in one chamber, and the only complete record of how far it spread.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceThe Patriarch is the first genestealer and the last word: a centuries-old brood-father grown vast on worship, whose psychic will is the load-bearing structure of the entire cult. Killing it is not an encounter; it is the campaign.
Use this threat as the climax of a Genestealer Cult arc — enthroned in the nest at the heart of the infection, surrounded by everything the party failed to stop earlier.
Very high durability, devastating melee, severe psychic domination and fear, brood-wide command aura, objective-grade encounter design required.
Father of the Brood. All cult forces on the battlefield are immune to Morale collapse while the Patriarch lives; when it dies, every surviving cultist immediately checks Morale at Disadvantage.
Psychic Dominion. At the start of each round, one enemy makes a Willpower Save or the Patriarch chooses: the target is Pinned, shaken, or compelled to spend its movement badly.
Throne of the Nest. While in its lair, the Patriarch may act through the nest itself: tunnels open, broodkin reposition, and darkness moves wrong.
Sovereign Talons. Multiple massive rending attacks; can shred armor, cover, and confidence in the same turn.
Mind-Wrench. Crushes one mind at range: Willpower Save or heavy psychic damage and the target is dominated for one action at GM discretion.
Summon the Faithful. Calls a wave of broodkin from the nest's tunnels; the room was never as empty as it looked.
Morale: No fear as humans mean it; if truly overmatched it attempts to escape deeper into the nest to begin again, and the campaign continues.
Tactics: Build the encounter around more than Vitality: collapsing the nest, severing its psychic reach from the population, evacuation timers, or a banishment-grade Imperial asset. The Patriarch fights enthroned and unhurried, spending waves and domination before its own talons. Fighting it fairly should feel like a plan the Primus already accounted for; give the party objectives that break its throne first.
