Pain-Singer
A voice-trained cultist who weaponizes sound and panic.
Threat File — Pain-Singer
TR 4 · Chaos God-Aligned CultsTrained Instrument. The pain-singer's sonic attacks ignore cover entirely; walls carry the song further rather than stopping it.
Crescendo Logic. For each consecutive round the singer spends performing, its save DCs increase by 1 (maximum +2) and its zones widen by 5 feet. Taking damage or being silenced resets the crescendo.
Shattering Note. A sonic burst on a 15-foot-radius zone within 60 feet. Creatures in the zone make a Toughness Save DC 12, taking 2d6 sonic damage and dropping whatever they hold on a failure, or half damage on a success.
Aria of Needles. One target within 60 feet makes a Willpower Save DC 12 or is Frightened and deafened until the end of its next turn.
Sustain. The singer holds an unbearable tone. Until the start of its next turn, enemies within 30 feet take -1 to attack rolls, Willpower Saves, and any check requiring concentration.
Morale: Performs until seriously hurt, then exits stage — its own screams, it feels, deserve a better audience than a battlefield.
Tactics: Position it behind the melee where its zones cover the party's fallback ground, and let the crescendo clock pressure them into rushing. Silencing it — damage, Grappled, sealed doors — is the objective play and should feel like relief made mechanical. Pairs viciously with duelists who exploit the disruption.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Vox-bead recordings of its rehearsals, which are dangerous to play back at any volume.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceThe Pain-Singer is a voice-trained cultist who weaponizes sound and panic — hymns that rupture eardrums and arias that unseat resolve. It performs at the battle rather than fighting in it.
Use this enemy as Slaaneshi area denial and morale attack: a voice that makes formations, cover, and concentration unreliable.
Low durability, area sonic damage, fear and disruption effects, cover-ignoring attacks, silence is its hard counter.
Trained Instrument. Its sonic attacks ignore cover entirely; walls carry the song further rather than stopping it.
Crescendo Logic. Each consecutive round it spends singing, its effects grow (+1 to save DCs, wider zones); interrupting the performance resets it.
Shattering Note. Sonic burst on a zone; failed saves take damage and drop whatever was held.
Aria of Needles. One target saves against Willpower or is Frightened and deafened for a round.
Sustain. Holds an unbearable tone: enemies in a wide radius suffer -1 to concentration, aim, and psychic focus while it lasts.
Morale: Performs until seriously hurt, then exits stage — its own screams, it feels, deserve a better audience than a battlefield.
