Noxious Bell-Bearer
A support horror whose presence makes despair contagious.
Threat File — Noxious Bell-Bearer
TR 11 · Traitor AstartesSaves: Toughness +10, Willpower +9
The Toll of Seven. Each round the bell has sounded, every enemy who heard it has Disadvantage on its next Willpower Save or Morale check before the start of the bearer's next turn.
Chorus of Rot. Allied Nurgle units that can hear the bell cannot be Frightened and automatically rally from failed Morale checks.
Disgustingly Resilient. Whenever the bell-bearer takes damage, reduce that damage by 3 (minimum 1). It is immune to poison and disease.
Sound the Knell. The bearer rings the bell: every enemy within 60 feet makes a Willpower Save DC 15 or becomes Frightened until the end of its next turn, gripped by creeping despair.
Censer Swing. Melee Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 2d8 + 4 bludgeoning damage plus 1d6 toxic damage, and the target makes a Toughness Save DC 15 or has Disadvantage on its next attack, choking on spore-smoke.
Dirge of Names. The bearer names one enemy in its tolling; that target has Disadvantage on saves against fear and Corruption until the bell is silenced.
Answering Peal. When an enemy within 60 feet removes the Frightened condition or passes a Morale check, the bearer may ring once: that creature makes a Willpower Save DC 15 or the recovery is undone.
Morale: Does not break; if destroyed, the bell tolls once more on its own, and every enemy who hears it makes a Willpower Save DC 15 or is Frightened until the end of its next turn.
Tactics: Keep it in the second rank, where killing it costs the party their positioning. The bell should ring every round, on schedule, until the players dread the sound arriving in the narration. Silencing it is the correct play — make them pay a fair price for it.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: The bell cannot be safely melted, muffled, or left behind; the Ecclesiarchy pays for its interment, not its delivery.
