Proficiencies: Guile +4, Awareness +4

// Traits

Perfect Form. Melee attacks against the duelist by targets it has already struck this scene suffer Disadvantage.

Sanctioned Blade. Killing the duelist outside formal challenge creates legal and faction consequences at GM discretion.

First Blood Reader. The duelist gains +2 Initiative against any opponent it has watched fight before.

// Actions

Measured Thrust. Melee Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d8 + 3 piercing damage, plus 2 damage if the target attacked the duelist and missed this round.

Disarming Flourish. The duelist makes a Measured Thrust attack. On a hit, the target makes an Agility Save DC 12 or drops or lowers its weapon and is Exposed until the end of its next turn.

Insult with Standing. One creature within 30 feet that can hear the duelist makes a Willpower Save DC 12. On a failure, it has Disadvantage on its next action or must move to engage the duelist in melee.

Morale: Yields with formal grace when clearly beaten — and remembers. Fights to the death only when house honor demands it.

Tactics: Fight one opponent at a time in front of an audience, using etiquette to keep the rest of the party legally frozen. Punish missed attacks and emotional decisions. If the party breaks dueling law to win, the real damage arrives afterward through the house.

Loot / Evidence / Hooks: A master-worked dueling blade bearing house sigils; carrying it openly is a claim someone will contest.

Enemy Dossier

GM Reference

A Noble House Duelist is a legally sanctioned killer wrapped in etiquette, dueling law, and generations of bought impunity. The blade work is real; so is the paperwork that follows any death they cause.

// Battlefield Use

Use this enemy when violence needs witnesses, rules, and consequences — formal challenges, honor ambushes, and social events that turn sharp.

// Threat Profile

Threat Profile: Low durability, high single-target melee precision, strong reaction denial in a duel, protected by legal and social armor more than plate.
