Mutation-Touched Adept
A scholar with gifts that should have remained theoretical.
Threat File — Mutation-Touched Adept
TR 5 · Chaos God-Aligned CultsSaves: Toughness +5
Ongoing Findings. The adept begins each fight with two active mutations of the GM's choice, each with a real rider: sensory arrays (cannot be surprised), extra limbs (one additional attack with its Warp-Touched Claw), phasing flesh (resistance to ballistic damage), or warp-conductive skin (1d4 warp damage to creatures that hit it in melee).
Peer Review. When the adept is bloodied, it immediately manifests one new mutation from the list above. The change is violent, visible, and mechanically real.
Annotated Flesh. The adept's skin bears its own research notes. Reading them closely risks Corruption exposure and grants one true, unwelcome insight of the GM's choosing.
Demonstrated Thesis. Ranged Attack: +5 to hit, range 60 ft., one target. Hit: 2d8 + 2 damage of a type matching its current mutations (fire, toxic, warp, or rending); the delivery shifts between rounds.
Warp-Touched Claw. Melee Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d10 + 2 rending damage.
Unscheduled Breakthrough. The adept pushes its own change: its next Demonstrated Thesis this turn deals an extra 1d8 damage, and the target makes a Willpower Save DC 13 or suffers a temporary mutation until the scene ends. If the attack roll is a natural 1, the adept rolls Perils and the result is published on its body.
Adaptive Rebuttal. When the adept takes damage, its flesh learns: it gains resistance to that damage type until the end of its next turn.
Morale: Retreats to preserve the research when reduced below one-quarter Vitality; if cornered, it tests its most dangerous hypothesis on everyone present.
Tactics: Make it a puzzle that rewrites itself: the party's answer to round one is obsolete by round three. Telegraph each new mutation clearly so counterplay stays possible — the horror is escalation, not unfairness.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Its research notes are the real loot, and they are the kind of loot that carries a Corruption cost to study.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceThe Mutation-Touched Adept is a scholar whose theoretical gifts stopped being theoretical — warp-given talents erupting from a mind that documents them even as they spread. It fights like a researcher demonstrating findings.
Use this enemy as a mid-tier Tzeentchian specialist whose unpredictable gifts keep an encounter from being solvable in advance.
Moderate durability, variable psychic and mutation attacks, self-alteration mid-fight, Corruption exposure, escalating instability.
Ongoing Findings. Begins each fight with two active mutations from the GM's choice: sensory arrays, extra limbs, phasing flesh, warp-conductive skin.
Peer Review. When bloodied, immediately manifests a new mutation; the change is violent, visible, and mechanically real.
Annotated Flesh. Its skin bears its own notes; reading them closely risks Corruption exposure and grants one true, unwelcome insight.
Demonstrated Thesis. A psychic attack whose form matches its current mutations; damage type and delivery shift between rounds.
Adaptive Rebuttal. After taking a damage type, gains resistance to that type for a round as its flesh learns.
Unscheduled Breakthrough. Pushes its own change for a powerful effect; roll Perils on a bad failure, and the result is published on its body.
Morale: Retreats to preserve the research when bloodied twice; if cornered, tests its most dangerous hypothesis on everyone present.
Tactics: Make it a puzzle that rewrites itself: the party's answer to round one is obsolete by round three. Telegraph each new mutation clearly so counterplay stays possible — the horror is escalation, not unfairness. Its notes are the loot, and they are the kind of loot that has a Corruption cost.
