Lictor
A stealth predator designed to remove key targets.
Threat File — Lictor
TR 9 · TyranidsSaves: Agility +9
Proficiencies: Stealth +9, Awareness +7
Senses: Sees normally in total darkness, Tracks prey by pheromone taste across days and kilometers
Chameleonic Flesh. While the lictor is stationary it is effectively invisible; spotting it requires an Awareness check DC 18, and only if the searcher has reason to look. It attacks from stillness with Advantage.
Pheromone Trail. The swarm knows wherever the lictor has been. Broods arrive at its kill sites 1d4 + 1 rounds later, every time.
Feeder Tendrils. What it kills, it reads. When the lictor drops a creature, the hive mind learns that creature's knowledge: names, routes, and plans included.
Unfolding Strike. Melee Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target that cannot see the lictor. Hit: 3d10 + 4 rending damage, and the target makes a Toughness Save DC 15 or is Stunned until the end of its next turn.
Flensing Claws. The lictor makes two attacks. Melee Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d8 + 4 slashing damage.
Refold. The lictor withdraws up to its Movement through vent, shadow, or ceiling without provoking Reactive Fire, then re-stills. Finding it again starts from zero.
Flensing Counter. When a creature within 5 feet damages the lictor with a melee attack, it may make one Flensing Claws attack (single strike) against that creature.
Morale: Does not make Morale checks. It disengages when bloodied and resumes the stalk; it does not abandon a marked quarry while the hive wants them.
Tactics: Run the lictor across scenes, not rounds: signs of watching, a missing sentry, wet marks on a ceiling. Its strike lands on the party's most load-bearing member at the least convenient moment, then it vanishes — and every fight after its first kill starts with the swarm already knowing where.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Its chameleonic hide holds its properties for weeks if flayed and cured fast — assassins and biologis bid against each other for it.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceThe lictor is the hive's assassin-organism: a chameleonic horror that shadows prey for days, tastes their pheromones, and unfolds from a wall the moment the target is worth the reveal. It is also a beacon — where a lictor hunts, the swarm is being led.
Use this enemy to remove a key character mid-mission, and as the dread that makes every wall, tree line, and cargo stack suspect.
Threat Profile: High durability, near-perfect camouflage, single-target assassination burst, feeder-tendril intelligence theft, marks the party's position for the swarm.
Chameleonic Flesh. Effectively invisible while stationary; detection requires the party to already be looking for the right wrong thing.
Pheromone Trail. The swarm knows wherever the lictor has been; broods arrive at its kill sites rounds later, every time.
Feeder Tendrils. What it kills, it reads; the hive learns the party's names, routes, and plans from the inside of their sergeant's skull.
Unfolding Strike. Devastating ambush attack from stillness; against an unaware target it threatens an outright kill on grunts and a crisis on anyone.
Flensing Claws. Sustained elite melee for targets that survived the introduction.
Refold. Disengages into cover and re-stills; finding it again starts from zero.
Morale: No Morale; it disengages when bloodied and resumes the stalk, and it does not abandon a marked quarry while the hive wants them.
Tactics: Run the lictor across scenes, not rounds: signs of watching, a missing sentry, wet marks on a ceiling. Its strike should land on the party's most load-bearing member at the least convenient moment, then vanish. The strategic threat is the pheromone trail — every fight after its first kill starts with the swarm already knowing where.
