Leman-Style Battle Tank
A heavy battle tank best handled with anti-armor plans.
Threat File — Leman-Style Battle Tank
TR 13 · Vehicles & War EnginesSaves: Toughness +12
Senses: Buttoned crew relies on vision blocks: it cannot see adjacent creatures in its close arcs
Battle Plate. Any single ballistic, las, slashing, or piercing attack that deals 15 or less damage is shrugged off and deals no damage. Melta, krak, breaching charges, and attacks against the tracks or an open hatch (called shot at Disadvantage) ignore this trait.
Slow Traverse. The main gun tracks slowly. The battle cannon cannot target creatures within 20 feet of the tank, and a creature that moved 30 or more feet across its front arc this round imposes Disadvantage on the cannon attack against it.
Crewed Vehicle. Four crew fight from inside behind sealed hatches. If the crew is killed or bails, the tank takes no further actions. A track hit (called shot, 25+ damage in one attack) immobilizes it; an immobilized tank with a breached hull usually means a bailing crew.
Battle Cannon. The tank fires at a point within 300 feet. Each creature within 15 feet of that point makes an Agility Save DC 17, taking 4d10 + 6 ballistic damage on a failure, or half on a success. Cover struck by the shell is downgraded or destroyed.
Sponson Sweep. Ranged Attack: +9 to hit, range 80/240 ft., one target per flank (two attacks). Hit: 2d8 + 4 ballistic damage. Both flank Fire Lanes remain active until the tank's next turn; crossing one provokes Reactive Fire.
Grind Forward. The tank advances up to its Movement through cover, crushing it. Each creature in its path makes an Agility Save DC 15 or takes 3d10 + 5 bludgeoning damage and is Pinned in the ruin until it spends an action to pull free.
Sponson Reactive Fire. When a creature crosses an active flank Fire Lane, the tank makes one sponson attack against it.
Morale: Crew morale: buttoned and confident until the tracks blow or the armor breaches. A burning crew bails, and a bailing crew can be taken.
Tactics: Announce it with its gun, not its silhouette. Make the encounter about the answer: stolen melta, a bridge that won't hold it, a fuel point, a commander's open hatch. Played straight it should chase the party out of every position they hold.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: A battle cannon and sponson guns worth a fortune to any warband, crew charts, and a hull a Tech-priest would trade secrets to consecrate or corrupt.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceA Leman-Style Battle Tank is the Imperium's rolling argument — battle cannon, sponson guns, and armor that ignores everything the party can carry in one hand. Infantry do not fight it; they survive it, trick it, or leave.
Use this vehicle when the encounter should revolve around one dominating armored threat and every plan for dealing with it.
Threat Profile: Heavy armor requiring anti-armor answers, battle-cannon area devastation, multiple Fire Lanes from sponsons, slow traverse, blind close arcs, crewed morale, hatches and tracks as weak points.
Battle Plate. Small arms and light weapons are noise; melta, krak, breaching charges, and track hits are the vocabulary that matters.
Slow Traverse. Its main gun tracks slowly; targets hugging its close arc or moving flank-to-flank deny the cannon.
Buttoned Crew. Sealed hatches mean poor close vision; open hatches mean a target.
Battle Cannon. Area devastation at a point; everything near it saves or takes heavy damage, and cover is reassessed.
Sponson Sweep. Secondary guns maintain Fire Lanes on both flanks; crossing them provokes Reactive Fire.
Grind Forward. Advances through cover, crushing it; infantry in its path save or are Pinned in the ruin.
Morale: Crew morale — buttoned and confident until tracks blow or armor breaches; a burning crew bails and a bailing crew can be taken.
Tactics: Announce it with its gun, not its silhouette. Make the encounter about the answer: stolen melta, a bridge that won't hold it, a fuel point, a commander's open hatch. Played straight it should chase the party out of every position they hold — which is a kind of objective in itself.
