Daemon Prince Ascendant
A former mortal becoming something the battlefield rejects.
Threat File — Daemon Prince Ascendant
TR 16+ · Traitor AstartesSaves: Toughness +11, Willpower +10
Senses: Perceives mortal souls directly; darkness, smoke, and walls of less than a foot of stone do not hide living creatures within 60 feet
Wings of Apotheosis. The prince flies, ignoring terrain and elevation, and does not provoke Reactive Fire from Suppressed enemies.
Aura of Wrongness. Enemies starting their turn within 15 feet make a Willpower Save DC 17 or become Frightened until the start of their next turn. A creature that fails this save twice in one scene suffers Corruption exposure.
Not Yet Fully Real. The prince reduces damage from mundane weapons by 5; psychic, warp, and sanctified attacks bypass this. When reduced to 0 Vitality it is banished in a reality-scarring rupture, not killed, and banishment rites, anchor icons, or sanctified ordnance can strip this trait or end the manifestation outright.
Hellforged Talons. The prince attacks each creature within 10 feet. Melee Attack: +11 to hit. Hit: 3d10 + 7 slashing damage. On a critical hit, the target also suffers Corruption exposure.
Warp Roar. All enemies within 30 feet make a Willpower Save DC 17 or become Frightened and Suppressed until the end of their next turn.
Descend Like Judgment. The prince dives from flight onto a target within 60 feet. Melee Attack: +11 to hit, one target. Hit: 4d10 + 7 bludgeoning damage. Creatures adjacent to the impact make an Agility Save DC 17 or are knocked Prone, and light cover in the impact zone is wrecked.
Drag a Soul Back. When the prince is reduced to 0 Vitality, before the banishment completes, it makes one Hellforged Talons attack against the nearest creature, trying to pull a soul through the wound it leaves in the world.
Morale: No morale in any mortal sense; if banishment nears, it spends its last moments on spite.
Tactics: Run it as an objective encounter with a clock: banishment rites, anchor icons, or a collapsing manifestation window, with the area's Corruption deepening every round it remains. Direct fire wounds and delays it rather than solving it, and it hunts psykers and faith-bearers first because they are the only things on the field it still fears.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: The rupture it leaves behind yields warp-scarred armor fragments and, for those who listened during the fight, syllables of its true name for the next banishment.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceA Daemon Prince Ascendant is a mortal champion mid-apotheosis: too large for its armor, too real for the battlefield, rewarded by the gods with a shape war was not designed to contain. It is what every Chaos Lord is trying to become.
Use this threat as a campaign boss, a ritual gone right, or the payoff of a villain arc the party failed to interrupt in time.
Extreme durability, flight, fear aura, devastating melee, warp-fueled powers, Corruption exposure by proximity, resistant to mundane harm, banished rather than slain.
Wings of Apotheosis. Flight; ignores terrain, elevation, and Reactive Fire from Suppressed enemies.
Aura of Wrongness. Enemies starting their turn within 15 feet make a Willpower Save or are Frightened; prolonged exposure risks Corruption.
Not Yet Fully Real. Reduces mundane damage; when reduced to 0 Vitality it is banished in a reality-scarring rupture, not killed.
Hellforged Talons. Sweeping melee attack against multiple adjacent targets; critical hits inflict Corruption exposure.
Warp Roar. All enemies in 30 feet make a Morale check; failures are Shaken and Suppressed.
Descend Like Judgment. Dives onto a target from flight; the impact throws adjacent creatures prone and wrecks light cover.
Morale: No morale in any mortal sense; if banishment nears, it may attempt to drag a soul back through the wound it leaves in the world.
Tactics: Run this as an objective encounter: banishment rites, anchor icons, sanctified ordnance, or a collapsing manifestation window. Direct fire should wound and delay it, not solve it. It hunts psykers and faith-bearers first because they are the only things on the field it still fears. Give the party a clock — every round it remains, the area's Corruption deepens.
