Threat File — Cult Gunman
TR 2 · Chaos & HereticsProficiencies: Awareness +3, Stealth +3
Learned the Hard Way. While in Light or Heavy Cover, the gunman gains +1 Defense. It will not voluntarily leave cover while enemies can shoot at it.
Scavenger's Arsenal. The gunman's loadout varies; the GM may swap its ranged attack profile between autogun, stubber, and lasgun freely without changing the numbers.
Scavenged Longarm. Ranged Attack: +3 to hit, range 60/180 ft., one target. Hit: 1d8 + 1 ballistic damage. If the gunman does not move this turn, it gains +1 to hit against an Exposed target.
Covering Rattle. The gunman sprays a 10-foot zone within weapon range. Creatures in the zone make a Willpower Save DC 11 or become Pinned until the start of the gunman's next turn.
Morale: Falls back through cover when bloodied; abandons the fight entirely if its position is flanked.
Tactics: Post gunmen in elevated or fortified positions covering the lanes the rabble funnels the party down; trade at range, retreat rather than duel, and pair them for crossfire.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: One functional firearm of actual value in a cult full of junk, often with Imperial serial marks that were never reported stolen.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceThe Cult Gunman is a heretic who found a real weapon and learned which end matters. Autoguns, stubbers, and stolen las weapons make it the ranged backbone of a cult cell.
Use this enemy when the cult needs actual firepower behind its rabble — overwatch positions, window shooters, and rooftop harassment.
Low durability, respectable ranged damage, decent use of cover, folds quickly under Suppression or melee contact.
Learned the Hard Way. Gains +1 Defense in cover and will not voluntarily leave it.
Scavenger's Arsenal. Weapon loadout varies; the GM may swap its attack profile between autogun, stubber, and lasgun freely.
Aimed Burst. Forfeits movement for +1 to hit against an Exposed target.
Covering Rattle. Cheap suppressive burst over a 10-foot zone; failed Willpower Save leaves targets Pinned.
Morale: Falls back through cover when bloodied; abandons the fight entirely if its position is flanked.
Tactics: Post gunmen in elevated or fortified positions covering the approaches the rabble funnels the party down. They should trade at range and retreat rather than duel. A pair of gunmen in crossfire is worth a dozen rabble.
