Threat File — Catachan-Style Devil Beast
TR 10 · Beasts & Death World HorrorsSaves: Agility +8, Toughness +8
Proficiencies: Stealth +9 (native terrain), Awareness +7
Senses: Sees normally in total darkness, Tracks prey by scent and heat for days
Perfect Camouflage. In its native terrain the devil beast is effectively invisible while still. Spotting it requires an opposed Awareness check made at Disadvantage.
Apex Dread. Wildlife falls silent around the devil beast. The first time it strikes each scene, every creature that sees it makes a Willpower Save DC 15 or is Frightened until the end of its next turn.
Death-World Physiology. The devil beast is immune to poison, toxic damage, spores, and environmental hazards of its home world; the jungle is on its side.
Ambush Pounce. The devil beast attacks from concealment. Melee Attack: +8 to hit with Advantage, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 2d10 + 5 rending damage plus 2d6 bonus damage, and the target is knocked Prone.
Hooked Limb Rake. The devil beast makes two attacks against a Prone or Grappled target. Melee Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft. Hit: 2d8 + 5 slashing damage.
Fade Into Green. The devil beast disengages without provoking Reactive Fire, moves up to its Movement into cover or foliage, and is immediately hidden again. Pursuit is on its terms.
Predator's Reflex. When a creature the devil beast can see misses it with an attack, the beast may immediately move 10 feet without provoking Reactive Fire.
Morale: Predatory patience: breaks off when seriously wounded and stalks the party for days, striking camps, stragglers, and nerve.
Tactics: Run it in movements: signs and silence, a probing kill, a vanishing act, escalation. It attacks isolated or resting targets first and never fights the whole party in the open twice. Reward hunters — bait, traps, fire discipline — and punish anyone who treats the jungle as scenery.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: A devil beast's hide and hooks are regimental-trophy currency on any death world, and its kill-cache marks where the last patrol's wargear went.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceA Catachan-Style Devil Beast is the reason death worlds get the name: an apex ambush predator of hooked limbs and hateful patience that has been watching the party since before they knew the clearing existed. Veterans do not describe it; they describe surviving it.
