Carnivorous Flora Patch
A terrain hazard that grabs and digests.
Threat File — Carnivorous Flora Patch
TR 4 · Beasts & Death World HorrorsSenses: Senses pressure and warmth of creatures inside or adjacent to the patch
Looks Like Cover. The patch reads as ordinary vegetation and attractive cover. Identifying it before entry requires a Fieldcraft or Awareness check DC 13. Fire and blade damage make sections recoil and release restrained creatures on 10 or more damage in a round.
Rooted Patience. The patch cannot move or pursue; everything it will ever eat comes to it, which on this world is a sound strategy. It occupies a 20-foot zone of the battlefield.
Snare Vines. Melee Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature entering or fighting inside the patch. Hit: 1d6 + 3 bludgeoning damage and the target makes a Strength Save DC 12 or is Grappled among the fronds (escape Strength check DC 12).
Constrict and Digest. Each creature Grappled by the patch takes 2d6 + 2 bludgeoning damage plus 1d6 toxic damage as digestive sap commits to the meal.
Pollen Haze. The patch releases soporific spores in a 15-foot cloud. Each creature in the cloud makes a Toughness Save DC 12 or is sluggish, taking Disadvantage on checks to escape the patch until the end of its next turn.
Morale: None; it is a plant. Sustained fire or blade damage makes sections recoil and release, which is the closest it comes to a decision.
Tactics: Place the patch where tactics want the party to be: the obvious cover, the flanking route, the shade by the water. It converts a firefight into a rescue problem the moment someone dives into the wrong greenery. Fire clears it decisively — with everything a fire in dense flora implies.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: The digestive pods preserve the gear of prior meals remarkably well, and its sap distills into a paralytic that underhive chem-dealers pay for in ammunition.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceA Carnivorous Flora Patch is a stand of vegetation that has opinions about visitors: adhesive fronds, constricting vines, and digestive pods dressed as scenery. It does not hunt; it waits where the path was always going to be.
Use this hazard to make a route, objective, or firefight position quietly treacherous — terrain that files a claim on whoever enters.
Hazard-class threat, stationary, grapple and restraint attacks, slow digestion damage, punishes the careless and the Pinned, vulnerable to fire and blades.
