// Traits

Anatomy of Bliss. The devotee's cuts are placed for effect. Each hit imposes one rider of the GM's choice until the end of the scene or until treated: off-balance (-1 Defense), numbed grip (Disadvantage on next attack), or staggered (-5 ft. Movement). A target suffers each rider only once.

Reads the Flinch. The devotee gains +1 to hit against any target already suffering one of its riders; it follows its own work.

// Actions

Three Small Mercies. The devotee makes three fast knife attacks against one target, fishing for riders. Melee Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d4 + 3 slashing damage plus a rider.

The Opening. Against a target suffering two or more of its riders, one deep strike. Melee Attack: +5 to hit with Advantage, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d8 + 3 piercing damage.

Morale: Predatory; abandons hardened targets for softer ones mid-fight, and flees without shame when focused.

Tactics: Attach it to one party frontliner and let the riders accumulate — round three's Opening should feel earned and telegraphed. It is a skirmisher, not a duelist: it disengages, circles, and returns. The counter is trading with it early, before its arithmetic matures.

Loot / Evidence / Hooks: A roll of surgical-fine knives, each one named, each name worse than the last.

Enemy Dossier

GM Reference

The Bliss-Knife Devotee is a knife fighter who turns wounds into tactical openings — cuts placed to stagger, expose, and unmake defense rather than kill. The kill is the last cut, arriving after the target has been dismantled.

// Battlefield Use

Use this enemy to punish the party's frontline with condition pressure — a skirmisher that makes every wound cost position.

// Threat Profile

Low-moderate durability, fast melee, condition-stacking attacks, target degradation, folds under focused fire.

Reads the Flinch. Gains +1 to hit against any target already suffering one of its conditions; it follows its own work.

// Signature Actions

Tactics: Attach it to one party frontliner and let the conditions accumulate — round three's Opening should feel earned and telegraphed. It is a skirmisher, not a duelist: it disengages, circles, and returns. The counter is trading with it early, before its arithmetic matures.
