Senses: Smells blood within 120 feet; never loses the scent of its designated target

// Traits

Slipped the Chain. On the turn its handler releases it, the attack squig moves its full Movement and charges in the same turn, straight at the target its handler designated.

Boss's Pet. While its handler lives, the squig is immune to fear and returns when whistled; it is, horribly, well trained. If the handler dies, it stands over the body and attacks everything that approaches, indefinitely.

// Actions

Bite Missile. Melee Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d8 + 3 piercing damage, plus 1d8 on the turn it is released. The target makes a Strength Save DC 12 or the squig latches on, leaving the target Grappled.

Worry the Wound. Against a target the squig has latched onto: automatic 2d6 piercing damage, and the target has Disadvantage on its attacks until the squig is removed with a Strength check DC 13.

Morale: Fearless while its handler lives; grief-guards the body afterward, attacking all comers.

Tactics: Have the nob release it at the party's most dangerous member the round before the mob's charge lands — a latched squig ruins overwatch, aim, and composure at once, and removing it costs actions the party needed elsewhere.

Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Its studded collar bears its handler's glyphs; a captured attack squig can, with heroic patience and a great deal of meat, be re-homed.

Enemy Dossier

GM Reference

The attack squig is a bred-up war beast kept by nobs and bosses as a pet, weapon, and status symbol in one drooling package. Released, it is a directed bite missile with a return address.

// Battlefield Use

Use this enemy as an ork leader's opening move — a fast, ugly problem delivered at the party's face before the charge lands.

// Threat Profile

Threat Profile: Low-medium durability, high closing speed, heavy latching bite, single-target focus set by its handler, dies angry.

// Signature Traits

Slipped the Chain. On release, moves its full Movement plus a charge in the same turn, straight at its designated target.

Jaws Like a Trap. On a hit with its charge bite, the target makes a Strength Save or the squig latches, biting automatically each round.

Boss's Pet. While its handler lives, it fights fearlessly and returns when whistled; it is, horribly, well trained.

// Signature Actions

Bite Missile. Charging bite attack with a bonus damage die on the turn it is released.

Worry the Wound. Against a target it has latched onto, deals automatic damage and imposes Disadvantage on the target's attacks.

Morale: Fearless while its handler lives; if the handler dies, it stands over the body and attacks everything that approaches, indefinitely.

Tactics: Have the nob release it at the party's most dangerous member the round before the mob's charge lands — a latched squig ruins overwatch, aim, and composure at once. Removing it costs actions the party needed elsewhere. Its grief-guarding after the handler dies is free table drama.
