Ambull-Type Burrower
A burrowing monster that turns floors into threats.
Threat File — Ambull-Type Burrower
TR 8 · Beasts & Death World HorrorsSaves: Strength +8, Toughness +7
Senses: Tremorsense: detects movement through the ground within 60 feet, Sees normally in total darkness
Deep Burrower. The ambull moves beneath the battlefield and cannot be targeted while submerged. Its passage shows only as tremors and dust to creatures that succeed on an Awareness check DC 14.
Tremorsense. The ambull detects movement through the ground within 60 feet. A creature that stands still and cuts engines or generators is invisible to it until it moves.
Digging Claws. The ambull's attacks destroy Light Cover on a hit and degrade rockcrete structures; the arena erodes as it fights.
Eruption Ambush. The ambull bursts from beneath a creature and makes one Sledge Claw attack against it with Advantage. Each other creature within 10 feet makes an Agility Save DC 14 or is knocked Prone in the collapse.
Sledge Claws. The ambull makes two attacks. Melee Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 2d10 + 5 rending damage. Both claws against the same Prone target deal an extra 1d10 damage each.
Drag Below. One Prone or Grappled creature within reach makes a Strength Save DC 14 or is pulled into the tunnel mouth with the ambull — separated from the party, alive for now.
Submerge. When the ambull takes 15 or more damage from a single attack, it may immediately burrow 15 feet, ending untargetable beneath the ground.
Morale: Territorial: submerges and withdraws when badly wounded, then defends its tunnel warren to the death — the fight moves to its ground.
Tactics: Attack in punctuation, not paragraphs: erupt, wreck, drag, submerge. Reward stillness, bait, and prepared charges over its runs; a dragged ally converts the fight into a rescue crawl through tunnels the thing dug itself.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Ambull claw-chitin is sought by Mechanicus buyers for drill-tooth patterns, and its warren often intersects sealed seams and pre-collapse vaults.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceAn Ambull-Type Burrower is a slab-armed tunneling monster that treats rockcrete as topsoil, erupting under firing lines and dragging victims into the dark it dug. Its territory extends in three dimensions and the party can only see two.
Use this enemy when the floor should stop being a safe assumption — mining zones, underhive foundations, and any siege the party thought was static.
High durability, devastating melee, burrow mobility beneath the battlefield, ambush eruption attacks, terrain destruction, tremor-based senses.

Tremorsense. Detects movement through the ground; standing still and cutting engines is genuine, learnable counterplay.
Digging Claws. Its attacks destroy Light Cover and degrade rockcrete; the arena erodes as it fights.
Eruption Ambush. Bursts from beneath a target: attack with Advantage, and everyone adjacent Saves or is knocked prone in the collapse.
Sledge Claws. Paired crushing strikes; against prone targets they are appalling.
Drag Below. On a strong hit against a prone or grabbed target, pulls it into the tunnel mouth — separated from the party, alive for now.

Tactics: The Ambull attacks in punctuation, not paragraphs: erupt, wreck, drag, submerge. Track it by tremors and give the party the counterplay of stillness, bait, and prepared charges over its runs. A dragged ally converts the fight into a rescue crawl through tunnels built by the thing they are chasing.
