Abhuman Mercenary
A heavy-hitting hired fighter with awkward legal status.
Threat File — Abhuman Mercenary
TR 5 · Renegade Imperials and Imperial AdversariesSaves: Toughness +6
Proficiencies: Athletics +6, Awareness +3
Contract Discipline. The mercenary is immune to Morale collapse while the contract holds; it walks away the moment the contract is breached or bought out.
Abhuman Frame. Ogryn-strain: the mercenary reduces incoming damage by 2 and its melee attacks have reach 10 feet. Ratling-strain: it instead has Advantage on Stealth checks and on ranged attacks made from concealment.
Ripper Gun Point-Blank. Ranged Attack: +5 to hit, range 20/60 ft., one target (ogryn-strain). Hit: 2d10 + 3 ballistic damage, plus an extra 1d10 against Exposed targets within 20 feet.
Contracted Shot. Ranged Attack: +6 to hit, range 100/300 ft., one target (ratling-strain). Hit: 2d6 + 3 ballistic damage, plus 2 damage against the employer's named target.
Hold the Door. The mercenary braces at a chokepoint until the start of its next turn. Enemies crossing its zone provoke Reactive Fire or a free melee attack.
Morale: Fights exactly as hard as the pay justifies; negotiates mid-fight if the party offers a better contract or proves the employer is doomed.
Tactics: Play mercenaries as professionals: good positions, no heroics, clean withdrawal terms. They protect the payer, not the plan, and will honor a surrender they would not offer. The counter is rarely firepower — it is the contract.
Loot / Evidence / Hooks: Quality weapons and a literal signed contract; the employer's name on it is the real prize.
Enemy Dossier
GM ReferenceAn Abhuman Mercenary is a professional heavy — ogryn-grade muscle or ratling-grade precision — selling stable violence in a market that despises them. Legally tolerated, socially loathed, and worth every throne.
Use this enemy when a hostile employer needs quality hired force with deniability, or when the party's enemies buy better muscle than they can field.
Threat Profile: High durability or high precision by strain, disciplined for money not ideology, reliable morale up to the exact limit of the contract.
